This time, the topic for the learning log would be regarding the performance of Romeo and Juliet :D
How do you feel about your own performance?
I think that our group performed fairly well in the performance as none of them forgot their lines or did anything wrong. As we watched 2 Respect's performance of Romeo and Juliet, i felt that their props were very well-prepared as compared to my group's, and of course, i got worried and anxious that things might turn bad... Sure enough, our back drop fell even with the strong support of the tables and tapes, we freak out and became confused. Dawn, as the director of the whole performance due to the stress broke down and cried...... It was really worrying that the performance might fail and all our hard work and time were gone for good. We spent most of our time on the opening dance , the back drop and the team sign. We changed the dance twice, the dance was supposed to be a ''chicky dance'' than we changed it to the ''umbrella dance'' due to some suggsetions by our group members. The dance is than finally confirmed to be the ''london bridge is falling down'' kind... The team sign took up 4 hours or so to paint the whole brown cardboard to a nice one... To be truthful, after seeing that most of the other groups decorating the team sign just by using a pen to write on the cardboard i felt that they treated the team sign with little respect. The back drop was the toughest... We have to thank Dawn for providing the huge cardboards:) we have back drop with bottled acrylic paint and paint brushes thus taking up alot of our time, but in the end, i felt that it was worth the while~
Would you recommend this to your juniors?
YES! Even though it felt tiring and also a tiny bit of waste of time:P we enjoyed ourselves... Due to the number of reheasal that we had, i didnt prepare myself well for my geography test :( But we get to have lots of fun not to mentioned the ghost shows that we watched in dawn's house and the cakes and biscuits and sweets we ate :P it was FUN! we also get to spent quality time with our classmates too:D

Learning Log 6
After numerous lesson we had on Literary Devices, i have learnt that these are mostly use in poetry so as to express how one feels. The literary devices are group into 2 different categories, the imaginery and figurative language and the diction and sentence structures.
Examples of Literary Devices are simile and metaphor, which are one of the easiest to point out. Where 'like' and 'as' would be used. Other Literary Devices such as hyperbole and rhetorical questions are tougher to point out. I was quite surprised at first when i realised that incomplete sentence ,simple sentence and complex sentence is also considered as one of those literary devices. As i havnt used or even heard of them before, i make mistakes on the unseen resource book. After reading through the meaning, i manage to know how they are used.
As mentioned earlier ,that simile and metaphor are one of the easiest to point out. I feel that examples like "as ugly as a cow" and "as cunning as a fox" are one of the similes which are easier to understand:)
The Literary device that i love most is auditory as it descriptions of what we hear. An simple example is
'thundering roar of the waves'. I find it intersting as i didnt knew that what we hear could also be referred as a literary device.
In conclusion, i feel that literary devices are very benefical and important for me to score well for the literature exams. I hope that we could be given more worksheets to practice the devices so we could be even better in using them.

Learning Log 5
After finishing reading the guide to tackling the Unseen, i have learnt and gained some knowledge. Now, im to share on what i have learnt:)
From the booklet, i have learnt on how we should approach an Unseen Prose Passage. We have to read the text thrice, before trying to understand the meaning of difficult words and phrase i may not understand, which is what i did not know before.
Secondly, i have learnt the PEEL techniques that will help me in answering the question, as i have forgotten about it after the holidays, where by we need to give a point, explain and elaborate, envidence or example and the link :D
Thirdly, i learnt the ABCs in quoting, which is Attention, Brief and the Context. The "Attention " is where we need to choose words that are drawing in attention. The "Brief" is where we we have to keep the quotation short in order not to make it look like it is a"cut and paste"job.
Also, i have learnt the skills in the analysis of text.As in general, there are 4 levels of analytical skills, which is "a clear awareness of the text's meaning","a logical interpretation of the text","a detailed analysis and evaluation of the text" and "an insight response to the text".
This are the few points of what i have learnt from reading the booklet :)
I can't wait for the lesson on the unseen, hopefully, i would be as entertaining, interesting and fun as i thought it would be :)

Learning Log 4
Our class (2 CMT) did our acting of Macbeth Act 1 Scene 1 on the three witches on (13/04). I was accompanied by my group members, Shadleen and of course, Jasmine.I was appointed as the second witch.
Before the day of the acting of Macbeth, Mrs. Woo told our class the marking criteria of the performance. 30 marks was the highest mark one could get. 10 marks for individual acting, 10 marks for props and another 10 marks for costumes. Even though my group has the intetion of doing well for the act, it did not turn as well as what we wanted to. Even for the much time we had to prepare for the performance, our group did not prepare well. Honestly, most of the things doned was last-minute. We did not rehersal together before, given that we were mostly busy, either because of the different CCAs we had and of course the homework and tests we had to complete and revise for. We did not prepare really well for the props as we did not really have an idea of what we should do. It was such a performance which did all of us, utterly devastated and not to forget, disappointed. I was even shocked of what we did on that day. The group which let me mostly unforgetable was Sanjna group. It was really an 'thumbs up' performance.
Hopefully, the act for Romeo and Juliet would not repeat what had happened itself.

Learning Log 3
On today [7/2/11] lesson, it was fun and eventful as we get to gather in our groups. My group members includes Jing Yan, Fatimah, Calisa and Jia Ying. Mrs Woo assigned all groups to write or create a story about somebody whom told you something and it came true.
As neither of my group members did experience such a thing, we create an imaginary story about a car accident. It started from an old lady whom sat beside 'me' in the bus, and as the bus was quite empty, it created the spooky ambience with the old lady talking to 'me'. As what she had told me/predicted, 'my ' sister had died. Althought our story was simple, our group did took much time brainstorming the 'extraordinary' story.
Other groups like Dawn's group, whereby his friend predicted that his dad would be involved in an accident on the way to KL and after on having his car scratched by stones, I thought things like maybe his friend was the mastermind of all this[LOL] or even he was just joking and scaring him?? Steffi's group was about a dream which occured to steffi's mum regarding an oral examination, where she dreamt that the oral picture would be a market. My mind zap to thinking about her mum must be too anxious or worried that she even dreamt of it!
Mrs Woo had also explained in depth that not all predictions might be true. After all groups had presented their answer, i realised that almost everybody wrote predictions about bad stuff, there wasnt something like 'dreaming winning the lottery' or 'dreaming the lottery number'.
The lesson today was entertaining as we get to share our answer to the class and learnt things that occured to certain people which we did not know about at first.
My only feedback is for lessons to be more interactive online games so we could boarden our knowledge and creativity. :)

Learning Log 2
On one of the Literature lesson that we had, our class was given the homework of writing down 5 or more superstitions that we believe in. After i went back home, i went to the Internet to browse what the Chinese had believed about superstitions. I found out that many of them, there were some which also said about ghost or even spirits. I chose to copy down those which were more believable or realistic. Some of them were about Chinese New Year whereby we should avoid sweeping the floor as it might ''Sweep the good luck away''. After a few days or so, we went to discuss in groups about what we wrote. Some of my classmates were chosen to present their answer to the class. I remember clearly that one of them wrote that if you are pregnant, avoid going to the zoo or so, as the baby might look like it. Mrs. Woo had also explained even more deeper about that to the whole class. Another was about cutting fingernails at night and opening an umbrella at home. Those were examples which I hadn’t heard of before. I feel that our lesson and assignments were very interesting and new in me, my having that lesson, I learnt things which were not included in our textbook etc. whereby we also gain knowledge from. In my opinion, I feel that our lesson could be improved by assigning different people to search on unique superstitions believed by different races. As by doing so, we might also learn to respect what other religions believe in.
After today lesson (24/1/11) about Macbeth, I learnt more about how the three witches would express themselves and the voice they used. Pupils like Lionel, Liang Wei and Jasmine were randomly selected to read the script of Macbeth, Act 1 Scene 1 to the class. I feel that making our voices sound squeaky sounds weird and funny. Although it sounds weird, when they read it aloud to the class, we simply enjoy it as we manage to get alot of laughter out of it. In my opinion, I feel the lessons that we had were simply more and more fun as it seems to be. I feel the lessons that we had were a very 'LOL' lesson has we could just laugh till our heart content. The lessons could be further improved by proceeding further on at a faster speed, as by doing so, i think we could absorb more.

Learning Log 1
From the numerous literature lesson that we had, i learnt about CINQUIANS, how we should construct a cinquian and most importantly, their rules.I also learnt the meaning of cinquians whereby 'cinq' is derived from a french word, 5!!!I have also learnt that the cinquain are written five lines. In my opinion, i feel that writing a cinquain is much more easier than writing a poem, as writing a poem requires more thinking and considering, by making it rhyme. My group created a poem regarding the toilet ,it was really fun and interective for us. In regards in writing a good poem, i feel that we must have enough practice as 'PRACTICE MAKES PECFECT' it also requires a great level of english for describing and expressing what your feelings are.
I feel that the lesson that we had were interesting and fun as we get to COMMUNICATE with our PEERS on writing a cinquian. We also get to think out of the BOX by brainstorming words which could be placed in that line PREFECTLY.I think our lessons could be improved by making literature lesson more anticipating and compeitive instead of SIMPLY fun and excitement. We could also have more practises and exercise to make ourselves better writing a cinquian :)
